Gravel and MTB, here is the path for you.

The Gravel / MTB route winds through 190 km for a positive difference in height of 3200m. and unites Lake Varese and the Campo dei Fiori massif in an ideal embrace.

Quasi 80% of the track is on dirt road, with a skilful selection of trails, sheep tracks and narrow streets far away from the chaos of traffic, which often open onto valuable natural glimpses. Differences in height sometimes important but always pedaled both as a bottom and as a difference in height, even with a sturdy gravel bike.

Starting from Varese, you go over the hill to discover the surprising wilderness of the Bevera valley just a few kilometers from the capital, very green casket that hides small lakes full of charm. Reached the Viggiù station, the famous "fire brigade" village (but in reality today there is no fire department headquarters!), continue along a beautiful lake in Arcisate before starting the epic climb that will take us to the top of Mount Piambello, the highest point of the entire itinerary a 1125 meters. From the top you launch headlong down towards Valganna, with short breaks to discover the Cadorna line of fortifications of the First World War half hidden in the dense vegetation. Brinzio is then reached, famous crossing point for all passionate cyclists of the province (watch out for the Pesegh waterfalls which can be reached with a short detour to the right just before the town!). Along the slopes of the Campo dei Fiori natural park, we then head towards Lake Maggiore: nothing better as a first approach than to climb to the Pieve di San Clemente on the homonymous mountain from which the view from the great lake opens majestically. After an inevitable visit to the famous parish church of S. Caterina del Sasso, on the sheer cliff, begin to skirt along the water (bathroom possible!) Lake Maggiore, that we leave only to move on to the other lakes in the Varese area: great months, then Comabbio, to finish with that of Varese, where we add to the booklet also an episode in the natural reserve of the Brabbia Swamp with its ornithological treasure. Final attraction of the long ring, the RTO park (Rile-Tenore-Olona) among other things, it takes us to the discovery of the medieval village of Castelseprio, forgotten and hidden by vegetation for centuries before its rediscovery in the 19th century.
